WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Gallaudet University
men's swimming team lost its season opener Saturday at the Field
House as visiting Frostburg State University won eight of 11 events
en route to a 120-66 victory.
Freshman Tyler Bastian (Racine, Wis.) scored
the first points of his NCAA career as he won two freestyle events.
He won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.52 seconds.
Teammates Anthony Dall (Indianapolis, Ind.) and
Jarvis Grindstaff (Frederick, Md.) took third and
fourth place in the same event with times of 28.15 and 28.18
seconds, respectively. Bastian won his second event of the day when
he was clocked at 51.65 seconds in the 100 freestyle as Dall placed
fourth.
The Bison received second-place finishes from sophomore
Robb Ingram (Salem, Ala.) in the 200 freestyle
with a time of 2:18.03, sophomore Myles Goldberg
(Frederick, Md.) in the 100 backstroke (1:27.60). Senior
Jakob Klenk (Westerville, Ohio) improved on his
best time last year in the 200 IM with a time of 2:56.95.
The Bison will take on Greensboro College and Hampden-Sydney
College in a double dual meet in Roanoke, Va., on Saturday, Oct.
