Box Score BUENA VISTA, Va. – Junior forward Jean-Pierre Kanashiro (Springfield, Va.) scored his fourth goal of the season, but the Gallaudet University men's soccer team fell 8-1 to the Knights of Southern Virginia University on the road Friday afternoon.
After going into the half with a 5-0 deficit, the Bison kept fighting. Kanashiro scored a 30-yard goal from a direct free kick in the 65th minute to get GU on the scoreboard. Junior Richard Spiecker (Rochester, N.Y.) and senior Cory Behm (Rocester, N.Y.) also attempted shots in the game.
SVU forwards Scott Terry and Kyle Tyree scored two goals apiece, and four other Knights scored on the day. SVU had 26 shots to Gallaudet's six. GU goalkeeper Jordan Ramser (Louisville, Ky.) saved six shots while SVU had no saves, as there was only one direct shot on goal.
The Bison return to the field next Saturday, October 15, to play North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opponent Cazenovia at noon.
