Bison denied first win as SUNY Cobleskill prevails 1-0

Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Gallaudet University men's soccer team had hopes Sunday afternoon of duplicating their effort shown last season when the Bison defeated SUNY Cobleskill on the road to snap a 62-game losing streak. Unfortunately for the Bison their first win of the season would not come today as the Fighting Tigers came away with the 1-0 victory between the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foes. Gallaudet (0-8, 0-5 NEAC) has lost 18 straight dating back to last season.

Cobleskill (3-8, 2-3 NEAC) pressured the Bison in the second half, especially late, as the Fighting Tigers finally got on the scoreboard when Tyler Shaw passed to teammate Noah Chapin for the goal in the 86th minute. Cobleskill outshot the Bison 20-2 in the second half after the two teams took six shots each in the first half. Forward Grantley McLeod tallied a game-high 10 shots, five on goal, while Chapin took five (two on goal).

Gallaudet goalie Jordan Ramser (Louisville, Ky.) finished with 11 saves as his defense also recorded one team save in defeat. Junior forward Jean-Pierre Kanashiro (Springfield, Va.) had three different scoring chances in the game but was denied by Fighting Tiger goalie Patrick Cobane (five saves).

GU will hit the road later this week when it travels to Southern Virginia University on Friday, October 7, for a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
