Box Score EMMITSBURG, Md. - A final shot by Gallaudet
University senior guard Luther Weedon
(Walkersville, Md.) was waved off as Hood College held on to win
Tuesday's Capital Athletic Conference men's basketball game, 59-57,
at Knott Arena on the campus of Mount St. Mary's University.
Moments before Weedon hit a three-pointer with 26 seconds left
to pull Gallaudet (4-14, 0-12 CAC) to within one, 58-57, of the
Blazers (13-9, 8-5 CAC). Hood added one point from the free-throw
line before Gallaudet regained possession. Weedon missed a
three-point attempt in the waning seconds, grabbed the offensive
rebound and put up another shot, that went in, but the officials
waved off the shot because time expired.
The loss is the ninth straight for Gallaudet as the Bison have
four more conference games left in the regular-season. This game
was originally scheduled for this past Saturday but was postponed
twice due to the major snowstorm that hit the Mid-Atlantic region.
Today's game changed venues and the teams moved up the start time
to fit in the game before the next blizzard that is set to start
Tuesday night.
Gallaudet trailed early against Hood down six, 10-4, just seven
minutes in. The Bison then went on a 16-0 run that ended on a
three-pointer made by sophomore guard Tony Tatum
(Birmingham, Ala.) with 5:53 left to play before halftime. GU took
a 10-point lead into the intermission up 32-22.
Hood slowly chipped away at the Gallaudet lead in the second
half as the Blazers went on a 16-4 run in a seven-minute span which
saw them take the lead, 38-37, on a jumper made by Brenden Straughn
at the 11:15 mark. Hood would lead the remainder of the close-knit
game.
Freshman Danny Kelly (Strongsville, Ohio) led
the Bison with 15 points (12 in the first half) and eight rebounds
as Gallaudet had four players reach double figures. Tatum finished
with 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Senior
guard Johnny Jackson (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) knocked
down four shots for 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds to go with
six steals and three assists. Freshman Jocus
Houston (Baton Rouge, La.) came off the bench to score 10
points. Gallaudet's bench outscored Hood's 15-4 and outrebounded
the Blazers 35-33.

points to go with 12 rebounds and two assists. Center Tyler Snoots
added 18 points and guard Reco Siler chipped in 12 points in the
win.
Gallaudet is slated to host York (Pa.) College on Thursday,
February 11, at 8 p.m. in the Field House, weather permitting. Stay
