ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The
Gallaudet University men's swimming team lost a double dual
meet with former Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) foes Goucher
College and St. Mary's (Md.) College on Saturday at the
Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Aquatics Center in
St. Mary's City, Md. The Bison lost 124-76 to the Gophers
from Goucher and 156-45 to the host Seahawks.
Gallaudet's two relay teams earned points for the Bison
with a second and third place finish. The Bison 200-yard freestyle
relay placed second with a time of 1:43.00. The relay consisted of
junior Brian Bennett (Colorado Springs, Colo.),
freshman DJ Everton-Lovell (Norfolk, Va.), junior
Daniel Katz-Hernandez (Montgomery Village, Md.)
and senior Dan Burton (Waukesha, Wis.). The
200-yard medley relay team of sophomore Kailob
Miller (Ardmore, Okla.), senior Daniel
DiDonna (Parsippany, N.J.), freshman Richard
Zabelski (Saginaw, Mich.) and sophomore Jacob
Klenk (Westerville, Ohio) finished third with a time of
1:59.82.
Bennett was second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.30) just
behind St. Mary's swimmer Cameron Hedquist, who was a second
faster. Bennett also placed second in the 500-yard freestyle where
he finished with a time of 5:02.38. He was just out touched by Thor
Peterson from St. Mary's as he finished in 5:02.17.
Gallaudet will make its North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC)
debut next Saturday, November 13, when the Bison host SUNYIT for a
men's and women's swim meet that will begin at 1 p.m.
in the Field House pool.
