Box Score UTICA, N.Y. – The Gallaudet University
men's soccer team didn't have long to celebrate its win
over SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday as the Bison took to the pitch on
Sunday afternoon at SUNYIT. The Bison had a tough task as they went
up against the first-place team in the North Eastern Athletic
Conference (NEAC). The Wildcats (8-3, 5-0 NEAC) blitzed the Bison
(1-9, 1-4 NEAC) for seven first half goals en route to a 10-0
victory. The 10-goal loss is the worst since a 10-0 setback against
Wesley College on September 23, 2009.
SUNYIT's Chris Staulters scored two straight goals
assisted by Matthew Owusu (one goal, two assists) to start the game
in the first 14 minutes. Diego Montaleza followed with two of his
game-high three goals. SUNYIT scored four goals in a five minute
span late in the first half. Matthew Owusu scored a goal off an
assist from Dennis Gyimah to send the Wildcats into the half up
7-0.
The Wildcats added three unassisted goals in the second half in
the first 24 minutes to secure the double-digit goal win.
For the first time this season Gallaudet was held without a shot
as SUNYIT took 30 shots.
Junior goalie Poloko Qobose (Gaborone,
Botswana) played the game's first 78 minutes where he made
seven saves. Freshman Jordan Ramser (Louisville,
Ky.) finished out the game in net for the Bison.
GU returns home to host Marymount (Va.) University on Tuesday,
October 5, for a 7:30 p.m. non-conference game at Hotchkiss Field.
The game was originally scheduled to be played at Marymount but was
moved to Gallaudet.
