Fresh off a big win Monday night, Gallaudet continued where they
left off, leading for the games first 33 minutes versus Stevenson.
But the Bison were unable to maintain the lead, and lost 64-60.
In the first half, Gallaudet played as well as they have all
year, jumping out to a 11-2 lead just 5 minutes into the game and
maintaining momentum into halftime, take a 33-26 locker room lead.
Gallaudet started off the second half fast, outscoring Stevenson
6-2 to take a 39-28 lead, their biggest of the game. Stevenson
slowly cut down on the lead, until they took their first lead with
6:19 left in the game. It stayed close the rest of the way, with
Gallaudet unable to make their shots in the games final minute.
Gallaudet was led by Sekoe White with 13
points and 2 steals. Johnny Jackson, Jr.
also had 13 points and 3 assists. Jon Mowl scored 10 points,
grabbed 7 rebounds, and had 3 assists and 3 steals. Chi Pun added 10 points.
Tony Tatum had 7
points and a team high 9 rebounds and 3 steals.
This was a game the Bison could've won. Gallaudet Head Coach Jeb Barber mentioned
this in his postgame remarks. "To win close games you must do
the little things better than your opponent. Today we did not
do that."
Defensively Gallaudet did a great job on the much taller
Stevenson squad. Coach Barber said, "I am proud of how hard
we played, and our defense was great."
Gallaudet is 10-11 this season. They return home Saturday
at 4 pm, when they face Mary Washington.
