Kolcun enters his sixth season as the head coach of the softball program. He is also the University's Intramurals Coordinator.

In 2015, Bison freshman pitcher Alyssa Barlow was named to the All-NEAC South Division second team for her performance.

Gallaudet, in five North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) seasons, has accumulated 11 all-conference honors (four first team honorees, seven second team selections) and one Rookie of the Year award.

Kolcun and the Bison had their best season since 2006, with a 13-25 record, 5-15 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) in 2014. Sophomore Chelsea Lee was named to the All-NEAC South Division first team.

In 2013 Kolcun led the Bison to an 11-29 overall record making it the first season the team has won more than 10 games in seven years. The Bison finished 1-19 in the NEAC. In addition, senior Alicia Johnson was selected to the All-NEAC first team for the second consecutive year.

In 2012 the Bison upheld an 8-28 overall record and 6-14 in NEAC competition. Kolcun had three players elected to all conference teams. Alicia Johnson was selected to the first team and Rachel Sweigart and Easter Faafiti were selected to the All-NEAC second team. Easter Faafiti also earned NEAC Rookie of the Year honors.

The Bison finished the 2011 season with a 10-26 record and went 7-13 in NEAC during Kolcun's debut as the head coach. The 2011 season was the first for the Bison in the NEAC. GU had five players earn all-conference honors for the South Division led by Nicole O'Malley who was picked to the first team. Four Bison were selected to the second team including Alicia Balzer, Michelin Barron, Jessica Buckwalter and Alicia Johnson. The softball team also contributed to Gallaudet University placing third in the 2010-11 NEAC President's Cup standings.

Kolcun has worked at Gallaudet for nine years where he has held the position of Intramurals and Summer Sport Camps Coordinator for the past seven years. He has also helped with game management of Bison home games over the years. In 2008, he served as an assistant coach with the Gallaudet baseball program where he worked with the catchers.

"My goals for the off-season are to work on things that are necessities for 2015 softball season - to have our team to be an explosive team, specifically on hitting as well as base running, and to be an excellent defense" 

Kolcun graduated from Gallaudet in 2002 with a degree in therapeutic recreation. Three years later, he received his master’s degree in leisure service administration. While at Gallaudet he played baseball for three years for the Bison. The Hazleton, Pa., native attended the Scranton State School for the Deaf in Scranton, Pa., for high school.

Kolcun currently resides in Washington, D.C.
