Gallaudet locks up No. 1 seed with conference sweep on Senior Day

WASHINGTON - The 2026 United East Women's Flag Football Championship will come through the nation's capital as Gallaudet University locked up the No. 1 seed here Saturday after the Bison defeated Cedar Crest College, 15-0, in the first of three games at Hotchkiss Field. GU later defeated Keystone College by 26 points, 32-6, to complete an unblemished conference schedule.

Gallaudet sets a program record with an 11-1 regular season record and a perfect 8-0 mark in United East conference play during its first varsity season. The Bison went 7-0 last year as a club team.

The Bison will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming United East tournament that they will host next Saturday, April 25. The three other teams headed to Kendall Green include No. 2 seed Penn State Harrisburg, No. 3 Cairn University and the Falcons, who locked up the No. 4 seed after a 12-6 win over Keystone this afternoon.

Gallaudet 15, Cedar Crest 0
It was a defensive battle between the two teams as Gallaudet scored a touchdown midway through the first quarter and tacked on a second score in the second quarter but no one scored in the second half. The Bison clinched the top seed with the 15-0 shutout of the Falcons.

Sophomore quarterback Gianna Visco (Riverside, Calif.) completed 18 of 27 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns but she got intercepted three times by the high-flying Falcons defense.

Visco led the ground attack with 51 yards on seven carries.

Sophomore wide receiver Citrine Lummer (Frederick, Md.) led all receivers with 112 yards on eight catches and one score. First year Tiana Starayev (Noblesville, Ind.) brought in four passes for 44 yards and a score.

On defense, Lummer led the way with seven tackles while first year Brittany Rivera (Hesperia, Calif.) had six tackles including three sacks for a loss of 13 yards.

Gallaudet 32, Keystone 6
The Bison did not struggle to score points in their second game as Gallaudet rolled past Keystone, 32-6.

Visco completed 21 of 29 passes for 232 yards and five scores and two interceptions. She ran the ball six times for 31 yards. Lummer caught eight passes, again, for 157 yards and three touchdowns. First year Evangeline Diaz (Cedar Park, Texas) caught two passes for 21 yards and one score while first year Shaelyn Johnson (Redlands, Calif.) had GU's other touchdown reception.

On defense, first year Alona Zfati (Frederick, Md.) made 13 tackles (11 solo) to set a career-high mark and added an interception and three pass breakups. Lummer was right behind with 10 tackles while sophomore Jada Zarembka (Riverside, Calif.) tallied six tackles. Johnson had GU's second interception and returned it 21 yards.

Prior to the start of this game the Gallaudet Athletics Department and the women's flag football team paid tribute to their graduating seniors in Lummer, Zfati and Jasmine Jimenez Lara (Gilroy, Calif.).
