SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Gallaudet University Disc Golf Club returned from its winter hiatus to compete in the 2026 Southeast Collegiate Open Driven by Innova in Spartanburg, S.C., on February 28 to March 1, 2026. The team competed in the Mixed Collegiate Division 2 (MC2) in a three-round game consisting of two rounds of team play and a singles round. The event consisted of two rounds on Saturday and one on Sunday.
The Gallaudet team featured seniors
Donovan Holmes (Valley Springs, Calif.),
Jaylen Johnson (Redlands, Calif.),
Travis Carrizales (Austin, Texas), and first year
Darius Zarembka (Riverside, Calif.).
Bison opened the competition with a one-under-par 60 in the team play, putting them in 18th place with the other two teams.
With experience on his back, Holmes led the squad with a two-over-par 63 936-rated round in singles play, finishing 19th among 88 competitors. Zarembka turned in a 6-over-par performance, good for 41st in his collegiate singles debut, while Johnson and Carrizales finished with 12-over-par rounds to tie for 69th. The aggregate singles score of 8-over-par put the team total to 7-over-par at the end of the first day, tied for 17th.
The weekend ended with a much-improved team performance of 5-under-par in the third round, finishing 2-over-par and 18th overall. The Bison finished 18th out of 22 teams with a combined three-round score of 2-over-par, with East Carolina claiming the top spot at 20-under-par.
