GU women's swim team dives into second day of 2026 Atlantic East championships

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Gallaudet University women's swim team took on the second day of the 2026 Atlantic East Conference swimming championships here Friday at The Aquatics Center at the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center on the campus of St. Mary's College of Maryland.

The competition began Friday morning with preliminary events in which GU swam for qualification in the finals that evening. A placement of 16th and above qualifies a swimmer for the final competition.

First year Hope MacPeek (Russellville, Ark.) kicked off the evening for the Bison in the 500-yard freestyle and finished in 12th place with a time of 6:26.12. 

Sophomore Alecia Miller (Litchfield, Ill.) was the sole Bison swimmer of the 200-yard IM and placed 14th (4:09.94). 

The Bison team of first year Adelle Patton (Puyallup, Wash.), MacPeek, Miller and sophomore Eliza Peterson (Snellville, Ga.) swam the 200-yard freestyle relay and recorded a sixth-place finish (2:20.31).

Gallaudet holds sixth place out of six teams with 86 total points.

All teams held their standings from yesterday. Marywood University maintained its hold on first place with 258 points, followed by St. Mary's College of Maryland in second with 256 points and Marymount University in third with 242 points. Immaculata University (154), Cedar Crest College (110), and Gallaudet (86) remain in fourth, fifth, and sixth place, respectively.

Gallaudet returns to The Aquatics Center at the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center tomorrow (Saturday, Feb. 14) for Day 3 of the 2026 Atlantic East Conference championships. Preliminaries will start at 10 a.m. and the finals will be held at 5:30 p.m. The doors will open at 4 p.m. with the annual Senior Recognition Program at 5:15 p.m. before Saturday's finals finish.
