Gallaudet women's team swims in final regular-season meet

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Gallaudet women's swimming team traveled to Maryland on Saturday to compete in the Last Chance Qualifier hosted by Stevenson University.

The Bison had eight swimmers compete in the time-trial event. While there was no team score for the meet, the buff and blue made an impressive showing with many swimmers breaking personal records.

First year Hope MacPeek (Russellville, Ark.) kicked off the meet for Gallaudet in the 1,000-yard freestyle and recorded a fourth-place finish with a time of 13:46.68 as she shaved over six seconds off her personal best time.

First year Adelle Patton (Puyallup, Wash.) was the sole Bison swimmer in the 100-yard backstroke and beat Hood College, Stevenson University and Lebanon Valley College opponents to the wall with a time of 1:18.79 to place 11th overall. Patton later finished ninth in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:55.85.

GU first years Alma Robinson (Austin, Texas), Mary Figueroa (Moreno Valley, Calif.) and Marcella Schular (Colorado Springs, Colo.) represented the Bison in the 50-yard freestyle event that had multiple heats and 28 total swimmers.

To conclude the meet for the Gallaudet, sophomore Alecia Miller (Litchfield, Ill.), sophomore Eliza Peterson (Snellville, Ga.) and first year Youstina Alesha (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) swam the 200-yard freestyle.

BISON TRACKS
  • Figueroa and Peterson finished 13th and 14th, respectively, in the 100-yard breaststroke
  • MacPeek placed 13th in the 500-yard freestyle (6:41.74) to take several seconds off her season best time
  • GU had a trio of swimmers in the 100-yard freestyle as Robinson, Miller and Shular finished the event that had 22 swimmers
UP NEXT
GU will take the next two weeks to prepare for the 2026 Atlantic East Conference swimming championships that will be held in St. Mary's City, Md., from February 12-15. The first day of action begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12.
