Three Gallaudet Athletic Leaders participate in National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic Association Conference

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – On May 3-7, Gallaudet University Athletic Director Warren Keller, Senior Woman Administrator Stephanie Stevens and Athletic Director Emeritus Michael Weinstock attended the 8th annual National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic Association (NDIAA) Conference hosted by California School for the Deaf-Riverside and gave presentations to athletic directors from deaf schools across the nation.

There were 37 athletic directors from deaf schools across the nation attending as 31 out of 37 attendees were Gallaudet alumni. The conference was all about learning the success and challenges faced by athletic directors and sharing Gallaudet's vision for the future of Deaf Athletics. Half of attendees were first-time athletic directors. Many conversations showed their progressions and how proud they are of the work.

Weinstock delivered his seventh presentation on ADology 701 to discuss how to be a great and successful athletic director. Weinstock also emphasized the importance of how to be more organized, avoid burnout and use time management. This was Weinstock's seventh presentation to the conference and he has been known as the father of starting National Tournaments and supporting numerous future Athletic Directors that were previously under his tutelage.

"It was really nice to see a room full of enthusiastic athletic staff from Deaf schools across the country. As always, I enjoyed sharing my years of experience and advice. In addition, I found it empowering to develop a solid relationship with them and provide advice when asked," said Weinstock. "I look forward to giving another presentation on ADology 801 in 2027."

Stevens shared the presentation about the Winning F.O.R.M.U.L.A - Keep Females in the Game and expertise in women student-athletes, female coaches and higher administrators. The full meaning of F.O.R.M.U.L.A is Foster, Open Doors, Respect, Mentors, Unite, Lead and Align.

"Presenting at this year's NDIAA conference hosted by California School for the Deaf-Riverside was an absolute honor! Connecting with passionate Athletic Administrators and sharing The Winning F.O.R.M.U.L.A. to keep females in the game was truly inspiring. Together, we're empowering our youth and investing in our future leaders," said Stevens.

Keller discussed his presentations on "Championship Culture 201". Two years ago, they learned what Championship Culture means and this year, the group assessed, brainstormed, and discussed how to actually implement Values, Vision, and Standards which became the blueprint of cultural transformation.

"All the participants were very eager to contribute ideas and listened to tips from my experience in implementing this as a coach and at three places as a leader. I am very inspired about the future of the Association with so much passion in the room," said Keller.  This was Keller's second presentation and he has been instrumental in mentoring many young Athletic Directors to grow in their role.
