Bison trio keep things basic in season opener for men's swimming

LYNCHBURG, Va. – A trio of men's swimmers represented Gallaudet University in the 2025-26 season opener here Saturday at Randolph College in a tri-meet with the host WildCats and William Peace University.

Gallaudet lost 149-15 to Randolph and 110-14 to William Peace. The WildCats from Randolph defeated William Peace, 133-53.

Sophomore Driss Oukake (Amsterdam, Netherlands) competed in three different events for the Bison. Oukake was sixth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of two minutes and 22.89 seconds and took sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:34.64). Oukake finished eighth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:24.12).

First year Elijah Gaston (Chicago, Ill.) made his debut in the 50-yard freestyle and finished sixth in 32.45 seconds. Gaston was ninth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:26.56).

Sophomore Alex Wilding (Santa Fe, N.M.) finished fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:28.87) and seventh in the 100-yard freestyle (1:16.37).

Gallaudet swimming will have three weeks off before they dive back into competition next month. The Bison will host Virginia Wesleyan University on Saturday, Nov. 1, in the Field House Pool for a 1 p.m. non-conference meet.
