WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet women's swimming team competed against conference opponent Immaculata University in a dual meet here Saturday in the Field House pool. Despite pushing, paddling, and kicking hard for their last home meet of the 2024-25 season the Bison lost to Immaculata University, 127-51, in the Atlantic East conference meet.
GU's record now stands at 1-9 overall and 0-5 in Atlantic East competition. Immaculata, who won 10 of the 11 events, improved its overall record to 3-7 and 2-3 in the Atlantic East.
The Bison started off strong as the 200-yard medley relay team of seniors
Alecia Miller (Litchfield, Ill.) and
Jaelynn King (Springfield, Pa.) and first-years
Thea Wrenn (Anchorage, Alaska) and
Melany Salcedo Benavides (Woodbridge, Va.) attained the only first-place finish of the competition for the buff and blue with a time of three minutes and 10.08 seconds.
Gallaudet, who used seven swimmers in the meet, continued to increase their overall score with multiple swimmers achieving silver and bronze finishes, as well.
The only Bison swimmer to take on the 1,000-yard freestyle was junior
Molly Headrick (Vista, Calif.), who swam her way to second place in 16:10.89. Headrick then placed third in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:22.99) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:31.79).
Bison sophomore
Tiadra Vang (Kansas City, Kan.) swam for silver in the 100-yard butterfly, completing the race in 2:15.96. Vang also achieved third place in the 500-yard freestyle (9:45.73) and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:55.52).
King contributed yet another silver finish, this time in the 200-yard freestyle in 3:22.81 before taking home bronze in the 200-yard IM in 3:44.13. Meanwhile, teammate Wrenn attained her own third-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 32.55.

- Miller placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (3:40.07) and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:38.21)
- First year Ashley Corcoran (Broussard, La.) placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (39.73) and the 500-yard freestyle (10:13.44)
- Wrenn placed fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:27.39)
- Salcedo Benavides placed sixth in the 50-yard freestyle (46.51) and fifth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:47.09)
