INDIANAPOLIS - Gallaudet University Athletics Hall of Famer
Ronda Jo Miller, '02, has been selected as one of six former student-athletes to receive the 2025 Silver Anniversary Award presented by the NCAA.
Miller will be honored at the 2025 NCAA Convention in Nashville on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the NCAA Convention Welcome and Awards Presentation. The NCAA will honor six former student-athletes for their outstanding collegiate and professional achievements.Â
The Silver Anniversary Award recipients are recognized on the 25th anniversary of the conclusion of their college athletics careers. The awardees were nominated by administrators at their undergraduate school and are selected by a panel of former student-athletes and representatives from NCAA member schools and conferences.Â
The 2025 recipients are Danielle Donehew (Georgia Tech), Isaiah Kacyvenski (Harvard), Matt Kuchar (Georgia Tech), Ronda Jo Miller (Gallaudet), Keiko Price (UCLA), and Kerri Walsh Jennings (Stanford).
Miller was inducted into the Gallaudet Athletics Hall of Fame for women's basketball in 2008 and in 2014 for women's volleyball.
Miller, who had her No. 23 women's basketball jersey retired on Feb. 8, 2014, was a three-time Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-American first team selection, three-time Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Player of the Year and holds numerous school records. She led Division III in scoring average (26.3 points per game) during the 1998-99 season when the Bison (24-6) reached the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA tournament. Gallaudet made two appearances in the NCAA tournament (1996-97, 1998-99) with Miller leading the way. Miller's career Division III numbers rank first in 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds, second in rebounds (1,545), third in consecutive games with double-doubles (24), fourth in points (2,656), sixth in scoring average (25.1), 10th in rebound average (14.6), 13th in blocked shots (373). Miller led Division III in blocked shots per game in 1997-98 with a 4.84 average. Gallaudet led Division III in scoring offense in 1997-98 (84.6 points per game average) and 1998-99Â (87.2).Â
Miller, who had her No. 6 women's volleyball jersey retired by Gallaudet Athletics on Oct. 26, 2018, was a three-time CAC Player of the Year (1996, '97, '99) in women's volleyball and a three-time American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) all-region honoree (1996, '97, '99). She became the first women's volleyball player to earn CAC Player and Rookie of the Year in the same season (1996) and a four-time All-CAC first team selection. Miller helped the Bison win their third and fourth CAC championships (1996, '99) and make two NCAA tournament appearances. Her four single-season kill totals rank first (1,038 in 1999), third (896, '97), fourth (865, '98) and eighth (780, '96) in the Top 10 in Division III history. Miller led NCAA Division III in kills per set in 1997 (6.45) and 1998 (6.31). She finished her career with a NCAA record 3,579 kills (tops in Division I, II, III) on 7,117 attacks (.390 hitting percentage) in 583 sets played. Miller's career Division III numbers rank first in kills (3,579), second in attacks (7,117), third in kills per set (6.14), 13th in attacks per set (12.21), sets played (583) and 25th in hitting percentage (.390).
Miller was nominated for the 2025 Silver Anniversary Award by Gallaudet Associated Athletic Director for Communications Sam Atkinson.Â
This is the first NCAA award Gallaudet University has received at the annual NCAA Convention.
