ABINGTON, Pa. - The Gallaudet University softball team dropped a United East Conference doubleheader here on a Friday afternoon to Penn St.-Abington. The Bison were shut out 4-0 in the first game and lost the second contest, 7-3.
Gallaudet (11-17, 5-9 United East) was limited to two hits in the first game while Penn St.-Abington (13-9, 7-5 United East) scored twice in the second and fifth innings sparked by RBI doubles to plate the Nittany Lions' four runs.
Freshman pitcher Christina Elsbury (Uniontown, Ohio) took the loss in the circle as she threw a complete game and struck out three. Junior Emma Giuntoli (Austin, Texas) and sophomore Danyeal Davis (Newport News, Va.) tallied singles for the buff and blue.
In the second game, Davis came through with a two-run single in the seventh inning to highlight Gallaudet's three-run frame. Freshman Aileen Balcazar (Burbank, Ill.) added a RBI ground out to get GU on the scoreboard.Â
Penn St.-Abington scored three runs in the fourth and fifth innings after it led 1-0 after one inning of play.
Freshman pitcher Lacey Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) recorded the loss with a complete game and three strikeouts.

GU will make the short trip over to Penn St.-Berks (15-5, 10-2 United East) on Sunday, April 16, for two more conference games with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
