CLERMONT, Fla. – Gallaudet University's Spring Break Trip came to a close, here Thursday, as the Bison softball team dropped a pair of non-conference games in the Sunshine State. The Bison started the day with a 10-0 loss in five innings to Plymouth State University at Legends Way Ballfields. Gallaudet (4-8) was limited to one hit against the Panthers (3-6) as freshman Lacey Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) singled in the bottom of the third. Plymouth State scored 10 runs in the second inning to chase Drolsbaugh, the starting pitcher, as freshman Christina Elsbury (Uniontown, Ohio) came on in relief.

Plymouth State starting pitcher Alyssa Wilson (1-1) threw four scoreless innings and struck out nine Bison batters to pick up the win.

In the second game, Gallaudet scored first in the top of the first inning when sophomore Elaine Swecker (San Diego, Calif.) singled home Drolsbaugh to take an early 1-0 lead over the Pilgrims.

New England College (3-5) responded with three runs in the bottom of the second and four in the third off Bison starting pitcher Elsbury (3-3).

GU got back in the game in the fourth with three runs as two came off the bat of freshman Aileen Balcazar (Burbank, Ill.) to cut the Pilgrims lead to three, 7-4.

The Bison hung around and chipped away at the three-run lead in the sixth when junior Ariel Senics (Fishers, Ind.) doubled home freshman Lou Cherena (El Paso, Texas) as Gallaudet got to within two, 7-5.

The Bison tried to rally in the seventh as junior Emma Giuntoli (Austin, Texas) singled home sophomore Caitlyn Smith (Indianapolis, Ind.) to make it 8-6. GU had two runners on base with one out, but the Pilgrims got out of the jam with a fly out and ground out to end the game.
