IMMACULATA, Pa. - On the road Friday night in Pennsylvania, the Gallaudet University women's swimming team competed in a dual meet against Immaculata University. The Bison came up short against the Mighty Macs, 121-45, in an Atlantic East Conference contest.
Despite the loss, the Bison (1-7, 0-3 Atlantic East) put up a tough fight. Junior
Amelia Oliver (Elkridge, Md.) finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29.17 seconds. Behind Oliver in second place was another GU swimmer, sophomore
Molly Headrick (Vista, Calif.), with a time of 30.85 seconds. First-year
Kelly Carbajal (Ritalo, Calif.) came in fourth place (44.10) in the same event.
Immaculata (2-3, 1-1 Atlantic East) won 10 of the 11 events against the six-swimmer Bison squad on Senior Night for the Mighty Macs.
BISON TRACKS
- Oliver came in second in the 100-yard freestyle (1:08.90)
- Carbajal finished second in the 100-yard backstroke (2:05.13)
- First-year Ellen Schloemer (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (3:05.72)
- First-year Tiadra Vang (Kansas City, Kan.) came in third in the 200-yard freestyle (3:57.70) and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (2:18.40)
- Headrick placed fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (7:10.93)
- Sophomore Paola Sarabia (Yuma, Ariz.) was fourth in the 200-yard IM (4:10.01) and fifth in the 500-yard freestyle (9:11.50).
UP NEXT
GU will host Stevenson University at home tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 18) at 11 a.m. The meet was originally slated to be hosted by Stevenson and also include FDU-Florham but that venue was no longer available and FDU-Florham backed out.
