WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University women's swimming team lost its home meet to Virginia Wesleyan University here Saturday afternoon, 201-35.
Gallaudet (1-3) wore special pink swim caps today to show their support for breast cancer awareness month.Â
The Bison started the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:48.81. GU's relay team consisted of sophomore
Molly Headrick (Vista, Calif.), first-year
Ellen Schloemer (Cincinnati, Ohio), junior
Amelia Oliver (Elkridge, Md.) and sophomore
Sonya Szywala (Phoenix, Ariz.).Â
Headrick took third in the 50-yard freestyle with a fast time of 30.58 seconds and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:09.22) and 100-yard IM (1:23.21).Â
First-year
Sam Michaelson (Southwick, Mass.) finished second in the 500-yard freestyle (8:19.27) and third in the 1,000-yard freestyle (17:04.00).
Sophomore
Paola Sarabia (Yuma, Ariz.) finished third in the 50-yard breaststroke (54.50).
BISON TRACKS
- Szywala was fourth in the 50-yard butterfly (52.75), 50-yard breaststroke (1:02.01)
- First-year Kelly Carbajal (Rilato, Calif.) was fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (3:15.96)
- Schloemer took fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:32.26),  fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (32.64)
- Michaelson was fifth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:21.94)
- Sarabia was fifth in the 100-yard IM (1:5297) and 100-yard breaststroke (2:07.73)
- GU's 200-yard freestyle relay of Schloemer, Carbajal, Tiadra Vang (Kansas City, Kan.) and Michaelson took third (2:37.43)
- The Marlins won all 14 events

GU will travel to Roanoke, Va., next Saturday, Nov. 4, to face Hollins University at 1 p.m. in a non-conference meet.
