VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Gallaudet University women's swimming program got its 2022-23 season underway here at Virginia Wesleyan University on Saturday evening and lost to the Marlins, 161-30.
The Marlins swept the 11 events between the two schools.
This marked the first official swim meet for new Gallaudet swimming head coach Brian Bennett.
Senior Jaelynn King (Springfield, Pa.) finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 17:53.06 and third in the 100-yard butterfly (2:11.76)
Sophomore Amelia Oliver (Elkridge, Md.) placed third in a close 50-yard freestyle race as Oliver touched the wall in 28.97 seconds just behind the first-place time of 27.05. Oliver followed that with a third-place finish in the 200-yard IM (2:53.56)
Freshman Molly Headrick (Vista, Calif.) placed third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:36.30) and 500-yard freestyle (7:29.59).

- Gallaudet's 200-yard freestyle relay (2:03.81) placed third overall
- The Bison wore special pink swim caps to show support for cancer awareness and research
