ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Gallaudet University women's swimming team made its first road trip of the 2021-22 season today and went up against Atlantic East Conference foes St. Mary's College of Maryland and Cedar Crest College.
The Bison lost to the host Falcons, 157-66, and fell to the Seahawks, 161-62.
Sophomore Dakota Ronco (La Mesa, Calif.) secured many key team points for the Bison. Ronco earned first-place points against the Seahawks and second-place points against the Falcons in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 3:29.40. Ronco was third overall in the 200-yard IM (3:24.88) and fourth in the 200-yard backstroke (3:26.54).
Sophomore Jenna Kutsov (Murphys, Calif.) was fifth overall in the 100-yard freestyle and touched the wall in 1:34.08.
In a close race, GU's Samantha Moore (Tucson, Ariz.) was seven seconds off the fast pace of 27.03 set in the 50-yard freestyle when the freshman was the fifth swimmer to touch the wall in 34.29 seconds.
BISON TRACKS
- Junior Jaelynn King (Springfield, Pa.) posted a time of 17:27.52 in the 1,000-yard freestyle
- Gallaudet's 200-yard medley relay placed fifth overall and third against both opponents with a time of 3:00.16
- GU's 200-yard freestyle relay finished fifth overall and third against both opponents with a time of 2:42.48
- St. Mary's defeated Cedar Crest, 154-69
UP NEXT
GU is off for the next few weeks for the Thanksgiving break and will next swim on Saturday, Dec. 4, when the Bison welcome McDaniel College and Hollins University to the Field House pool for a 1 p.m. double-dual meet.
