SWEET BRIAR, Va. - The Gallaudet University women's swimming team dropped a double-dual meet here Saturday at the Prothro Natatorium on the campus of Sweet Briar College. The Bison (0-11) lost to the host Vixens, 166-80, and fell to Guilford College Quakers, 186-68.
Sweet Briar (7-8) handed Guilford (6-1) its first loss of the season with a 130-125 win.
Senior Jessica Monroe (Senoia, Ga.) finished second overall in the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 3:33.07. She earned first-place points against Guilford. Monroe was third in the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 3:27.64 to earn second-place points. Monroe completed her three individual events with a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter butterfly (1:35.34).
Freshman Rebecca Vides (Haleiwa, Hawaii) placed second in the 200-meter breaststroke (3:46.54) as she came in behind Guilford College's Rebecca Shenhouse in first place (3:25.21). Vides was third in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:43.52) and fourth in the 200-meter IM (3:22.48).
Freshman Dakota Ronco (La Mesa, Calif.) was fourth in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 3:10.14 to earn second-place points against Guilford. Ronco took fifth overall in the 100-meter freestyle (1:26.13) and sixth in the fast 50-meter freestyle event with a time of 36.47.
The trio of Monroe, Vides, Ronco and sophomore Jaelynn King (Springfield, Pa.) were third in the 200-meter medley relay with a time of 2:56.19.
