FROSTBURG, Md. - The Gallaudet University women's swimming team began the 2018-19 season on road Saturday at Frostburg State University and lost the non-conference meet, 170-62.
Junior Julia Miller-Notestone (Medford, Ore.) placed second in the 100-meter backstroke, as she was off the first-place time by less than two seconds, as she touched the wall in 1:16.32. Miller-Notestone placed third in the 400-meter freestyle (5:19.14) and was a member of the 200-meter medley relay (2:33.74) with fellow juniors Jackie Perkins (Hampton, Va.) and Jessica Monroe (Senoia, Ga.) along with senior Jana Kiefer (Leander, Texas).
Perkins had two third-place finishes in the 50-meter breaststroke (41.97) and 100-meter breaststroke (1:35.52) and took fourth in the 50-meter freestyle (35.89).
BISON TRACKS
- Miller-Notestone was fourth in the 200-meter freestyle (2:41.78)
- Kiefer took fourth in the 800-meter freestyle (12:42.89)
- Monroe was fourth in the 100-meter butterfly (1:30.27) and fifth in the 100-meter backstroke (1:35.43)
- Frostburg swam the last three events as an exhibition

Gallaudet dives back into the pool next Saturday, Oct. 20, as the Bison begin their home schedule with a meet against Bridgewater (Va.) College at 2 p.m.
