TOWSON, Md. – The Gallaudet University
men's and women's swimming and diving teams traveled to Goucher
College for a non-conference double dual meet against the host
Gophers and Arcadia University. The Gophers and the Knights were
too much for the Bison as the men lost 143-57 and 123-79,
respectively. The GU women's team lost 118-79 against Goucher and
131-67 verse Arcadia.
The Gallaudet men's 400-yard freestyle relay team of seniors DJ Everton-Lovell (Norfolk, Va.) and
Tony Dall (Indianapolis, Ind.) along
with junior Abdiel Davila-Cruz (Orlando, Fla.) and
sophomore Maurice Abenchuchan (St. Augustine,
Fla.) placed second with a time of 3:54.42. Everton-Lovell also
placed third in the 100-yard backstroke as he clocked in at
1:02.23. Abenchuchan added a third-place finish in the 50-yard
freestyle with a time of 24.63 seconds. Gallaudet is now 0-6
on the season.
The Bison women (3-5) were led by junior Alexandra Polivanchuk (Orebro, Sweden)
as she finished first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.22) and
third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:12.16). Polivanchuk, junior Lisa Murphy (Bothell, Wash.) and
freshmen Molly Verseput (Upland, Calif.)
and Thyra Wood (Great Falls, Mont.) made
up the women's 400-yard medley team that placed second behind
Arcadia University in 4:06.47. Verseput tacked on two additional
third-place finishes in the 200-yard individual medley (2:31.96)
and the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:36.54). Murphy also took home a
third-place finish in the 100-yard fly as she touched the wall in
1:13.04.
The men's and women's teams return home to host non-conference
opponent Bethany College on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. at the
Field House pool.
