ROANOKE, Va. – The Gallaudet University
women's swimming team dropped its double dual meet Saturday
on the road at Hollins University. The Bison lost 68-27 to
Greensboro College and 62-33 to Hollins.
Sophomore Alexandra Polivanchuk (Orebro,
Sweden) won the 100-yard butterfly as she touched the wall at
1:05.18. She finished second in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.10) and
the 200 IM (2:23.79). Freshman Brianna
Stroud-Williams (Tucker. Ga.) was third in the 200
freestyle with a time of 2:14.39.
Gallaudet's two relay teams the 200 medley and 400
freestyle finished second overall with times of 2:37.60 and
4:53.28, respectively. The 200 medley consisted of juniors
Valerie Farr (Fremont, Calif.), Alyssa
Gleason (Springfield, Va.), Lisa van der
Mark (Mijnsheerenland, The Netherlands) and freshman
Liv Polzin (Frederick, Md.). The 400 freestyle
relay team is made up of Stroud-Williams, senior
Brittany Turner (Palmdale, Calif.), junior
Emily Harrison (Brewster, Mass.) and freshman
Paige Foreman (Albuquerque, N.M.).
Hollins defeated Greensboro, 48-47, in the other head-to-head
scoring.
Gallaudet will next host Ferrum on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 1
p.m.
