FREDERICK, Md. – It was a heartbreaking
loss for the Gallaudet University women's swimming team on
Saturday against Hood College as the host Blazers edged the Bison,
102-100. The non-conference meet came down to the last and final
event, 200-yard freestyle relay, which Hood won by four
seconds.
Gallaudet (3-5) won three of the 11 events as the Blazers were
victorious in the remainder which included two relays. Senior
Carlisle Robinson (Carmel, Ind.) claimed two
first-place finishes as she was the first to touch the wall in the
100-yard backstroke (1:11.95) and the 100 butterfly (1:12.23). The
Bison recorded 14 and 15 team points, respectively, in those two
events as GU had three swimmers apiece earn points. Robinson edged
out sophomore Tong Song (Beijing, China) for first
in the 100 butterfly by four seconds (1:16.32). Senior

The Bison will host North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe
College of Saint Elizabeth tomorrow (Sunday, January 23) at 1 p.m.
in the Field House pool.
