ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The
Gallaudet University women's swimming team lost a double dual
meet with former Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) foes Goucher
College and St. Mary's (Md.) College on Saturday at the
Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Aquatics Center in
St. Mary's City, Md. The Bison lost 131-72 to the Gophers
from Goucher and 140-53 to the host Seahawks.
Junior Carlisle Robinson (Carmel, Ind.) had two
third-place finishes to lead the Bison. She finished third in the
100-yard butterfly (1:04.97) behind two Seahawks as Hattie
Schiavone won the event in 1:04.45. Robinson also took third in the
500-yard freestyle as she touched the wall in 5:50.87, five seconds
off the first-place pace.
Sophomore Tong Song (Beijing, China) finished
second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:22.11. She was
a few seconds behind Goucher's Sarah Eastland (1:19.49).
The Bison 200-yard freestyle relay placed second with a time of
2:35.38. The relay consisted of sophomores Randi
Medugno (Fremont, Calif.), Maggie Hoyt
(Norway, Maine), Brandi McGowan (Front Royal, Va.)
and junior Amanda Lyndaker (Croghan, N.Y.).
Gallaudet will make its North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC)
debut next Saturday, November 13, when the Bison host SUNYIT for a
men's and women's swim meet that will begin at 1 p.m.
in the Field House pool.
