ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The Gallaudet University
women's swimming team went toe-to-toe against Goucher College on
Saturday in St. Mary's City, Md., but the Gophers edged the Bison
by 10 points, 105-95 to earn the non-conference win. Gallaudet also
dropped a tough 168-37 meet to the host Seahawks from St. Mary's
(Md.) College. The Bison now stand 0-4 on the season and 0-3 in the
Capital Athletic Conference.
The Gallaudet-Goucher meet came down to the last freestyle relay
but the Gophers won by 15 seconds to take the win. GU had the
chance to beat the Baltimore-based Gophers for the first time in
several decades. Leading the way for the Bison was junior
Carlisle Robinson (Carmel, Ind.) who won both the
200 IM with a time of 2:22 and the 100-yard butterfly with a time
of 1:18. Junior Misella Tomita (Kahului, Hawaii)
won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:14 while freshman
Tong Song (Beijing, China) took first against the
Gophers in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:18.Gallaudet
medley relay of Tomita, Song, Robinson and senior Katie
Day (St. Elmo, Ill.) took the opening event in two minutes
and eight seconds.
Gallaudet is off to the second week of December when the Bison
travel to York, Pa., to face CAC foe York (Pa.) College and Penn
State-Altoona in a double dual meet that starts at 1 p.m. This will
be the final meet of the 2009 calendar year for Gallaudet.
