Baltimore, MD-The women were once again led by freshman Carlisle
Robinson who won both the 200 Free (2:06.41) and 100 Fly (1:03.19),
and led off the victorious 200 Free Relay with a split of
26.88. Joining Robinson in the free relay were senior
co-captain Kandace Morris (27.7), junior co-captain Marissa Larson
(29.0) and sophomore Katie Day (29.3), who together swam the second
fastest sprint relay in Gallaudet women's history (1:52.88).
Also notable was junior Jodi Winkelmann's performance: personal
bests in the 200 IM and 100 Breast, team points in the 500 Free,
and sacrificing a potential victory in her best event (backstroke)
to help garner more team points.
"The key is that our swimmers continue to improve every
week," said Gallaudet Head Coach Bill Snape. "We will
continue to train hard until exams start in early December."
The Aqua-Bison next face Penn State-Altoona and Arcadia on Sunday
November 18th in Altoona, PA. The women hope to win
their first meet(s) of the season.
"Most impressive to me," continued Snape, "was the fact that our
two free relays were less than one second off team records at this
point in the season. Our taste of success should make us
hungry for more. I certainly believe we are capable of
more. A lot more."
