WASHINGTON, DC--The Wesley College Wolverines capitalized on
scoring opportunities and converted their free throws to defeat
Gallaudet, 66-45 at the Field House.
Freshman Nukeitra Hayes, who was averaging 14 points a game
before today's matchup, posted a game-high 17 points. She was the
lone Bison in double-digit scoring, while Brittainy Payne pulled
down another game-high 10 rebounds to go with her 7 points.
The Buff and Blue had opportunities to cut the Wolverine lead in
the second half, made difficult by missed field goals and key free
throw attempts. Gallaudet went 14-29 at the charity stripe,
compared to Wesley's 8-14 mark.
Guard Priscilla Biskupiak had 9 rebounds, 6 points and 2
assists, while Heather Daley posted 7 points. Wolverine Michele
Mueles led the visitors with a 15-point effort, as Herbie Rayne
pulled down a team-high 9 boards.
The Bison (1-5, 0-2 CAC) have a brief break in play before
traveling to Hood College on Thursday, December 6 in continuing CAC
play. Tip time is set for 6:00 p.m.
