The Gallaudet
University Women's Basketball team lost to the visiting Hood
College Blazers 65-56 at the Field House tonight.
The
Bison were led by
Tamijo Foronda,
Pia Marie Paulone, and Jessica
Salisbury who netted 18, 16, and 10 apiece, while the
Blazers were led by Jennifer Willison's 22 points along
with Dana Shook and Whitney Schultheis chipping in with 11 points
apiece.
After trading shots for most of the first half, Gallaudet took a
19-17 lead when Foronda drove the lane, zinged off a crisp
pass to Paulone in the corner for a 18 footer at the 7:23 mark.
After that play, Gallaudet suffered through a horrid drought and
allowed Hood to mount a 18-9 run to finish the half. Hood went into
the break up by seven points, 35-28.
In the second half, Gallaudet made a few valiant runs but the
steady scoring of Willison and Sara Wastler, who combined for 14 of
Hood's 30 second-half points, buried any comeback dreams the
Bison had.
Foronda led the Bison with 9 in the second half, netting a
team-high 18 points to go along with her four assists and 3 steals.
Paulone and Salisbury cleaned up on the boards netting 5 and 15
rebounds. Salisbury also swatted a shot in the second
half.
Gallaudet turned over the ball 28 times to Hood's 25.
However, the Bison won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding
Hood 35-32.
The loss brings the Bison's record to 2-14 including a 1-7
CAC mark. They face Christendom College in the Field
House on Monday January 29th at 6:00 p.m.
